Toner & Inkjet Cartridge Recycling

Inkjet CartridgeLess than 10% of all inkjet and toner cartridges are recycled.

Worldwide over 375 million inkject cartridges were thrown out last year. The figure for the UK is approximately 30 million.

Each toner cartridge contains over 1.5kg of plastic, aluminium and other assorted parts.

In the last 6 months alone, inkjet recycling has saved more than 50 million litres of oil. this is more than was spilled by the Exxon Valdex disaster in Alaska's Princ William Sound in 1989.

Toner CartridgeDumped printer cartridges contribute over 300,000 tonnes of largely non-biodegradable solid waste in landfill sites.

Approximately 90ml of oil is used in the production of each inkjet cartridge and more than 1.5 pints of oil to produce a single toner cartridge.

In the last decade it is estimated that printer cartidges worth approximately £5000,000,000 were dumped in landfill sites.

Some types of plastics used in the manufacture of printer cartridges can take over 80,000 years to biodegrade in landfill.
